Skin redness affects millions of people every year. No matter what the reason why it’s there, there are things you can do to reduce the appearance of redness.
The redness may not be harmful but it can be embarrassing, inconvenient, and could possibly worsen if it’s not managed properly. At Hylunia, we are big on “the solution,” as we believe there is correction to every blemish, soothing for inflammation and a glow to every sallow.
Some of our favorite tips to managing the redness are topical, internal and life stylistic.
Keep calm and carry on.
The application of essential oils on the skin day and night can help calm skin sensitivity. Lavender, jojoba and chamomile are all very soothing. We just have to mention that all of our Remedy Oils would be perfect for this routine.
Plant peptides are nature’s super-hero.
Plant peptides help promote skin rejuvenation and reduce inflammation. Our Nightly Renewal Serum is the perfect addition to your skin care regime.
Here comes the sun.
Protecting skin from the sun’s damaging rays is very important. Always use sunscreen when you go outdoors. Make sure it’s SPF 30 or more…even on a cloudy day!
Minimize exposure to irritating ingredients.
Sensitive skin—including skin prone to redness—is easily irritated by ingredients found in skin care, cosmetics and hair care. Make sure you use water-based, and natural products that do not contain skin irritating chemicals or fragrances.
Keep it clean.
Excess environmental build up (from pollution or pollen), cosmetics and products can leave your skin irritated if not properly cleaned off. Ensure you clean your face twice a day with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Our Facial Cleansing Lotion is just what you need to cleanse and soothe.
We believe that equipped with the right knowledge you can manage this skin condition. Aside from conventional treatments, such as antibiotics, which can be used to control the inflammation (but come with nasty side effects), we feel that self- treatment can be done about those very rosy cheeks and bright red noses and chins!
