Drink Up! 5 Ways to Keep Skin Hydrated

Drink up! Your body is 80% water and your skin makes up about 15% of your body weight, so keeping it hydrated must be a priority!

It not only keeps skin looking fresh and glowing, but it helps wash out impurities and toxins that can make skin appear ruddy and tired-looking.

Everyone knows that drinking a gallon of water a day is a good start, but there’s more to keeping skin hydrated than drinking water. Here are a few of our favorite hydrating tips:

1. Eat your fruits and veggies.

Fruits and vegetables are mostly water, so they are hydrating you as eat. Watermelons, apples, grapes, spinach, celery and papayas are all wonderfully hydrating…and yummy too!

2. Coconut water is nature’s electrolyte-infused beverage!

Just 8 ounces of coconut water has just as much potassium as a banana and hydrates you with natural electrolytes. Coconuts are an excellent food for skin health and now it’s easier than ever to enjoy the benefits of coconut water!

3. Add some sparkle.

Sparkling water is a nice, crisp hydrating treat. It’s a refreshing substitute to plain ol’ water. Fill up a wine glass with your favorite sparkling water or low-sodium club soda, throw a fresh raspberries in it, and you’ve got yourself a skin hydrating summer spritzer.

4. Water is wonderful.

When you track your water consumption with your daily activities, it becomes habit to drink. Wake up? Drink a glass of water. Commute to work? Sip on a water bottle. Watching TV? Take 4 sips of water every commercial break.

5. Juice it!

Hydration doesn’t only come from water. It comes from any unsweetened source of liquid. Juice some fresh squeezed orange or apple juice and consider your thirst quenched!

Keeping your body and skin hydrated are key to keeping skin soft and supple. When skin is dehydrated, every blemish and fine line shows. Use these tips for happier and more hydrated skin.
