5 skin loving foods

Did your mom ever tell you, “You are what you eat?” Well, it’s true. Our skin is the largest organ on our body, and is always the first to let us know that something isn’t working on the inside. Muddy skin, dull skin, redness, dryness or skin sensitivity are a result of what you are putting inside your body, through your skin and through the foods you eat. But, what if we told you that you could easily reverse these symptoms of “less than perfect” skin? Today, right now, on your lunch break? You can. Certain foods help you glow from the inside out. They are full of anti oxidants and vitamins that help your cells regenerate. It’s the same technology Hylunia uses in our products: naturally derived ingredients that perpetuate the health of our bodies.

Blueberries

Blueberries are known for their high water content (hello hydration!) and potent antioxidant count - which help protect you from premature aging. Toss 1/2 cup into your blender with some almond milk and you’ve got a powerhouse smoothie to go. Try our Grape Seed Exfoliating Scrub for the body; blueberries and grapes share the same antioxidant properties, so you can double punch free radicals in the face!

Spinach

Spinach is a great source of vitamins B, C and E, iron and omega 3 fatty acids, which all contribute to supple and soft skin. Next time you’re at the salad bar, substitute half of your lettuce with fresh spinach.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene and citric acid, which are antioxidants that help protect your skin from damage (such as pollutants in the air, or the sun.) Lycopene is better absorbed by the body when it’s delivered in a cooked form…how about some gluten free pasta andtomatosauce for dinner tonight? And while you’re at it, take a dip in your tub with our Therapeutic Bath Salts, which are rich in citric acid, so your skin can literally, “exhale.”

Avocados

These are high in Vitamin E, which has natural healing properties to smooth the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks androsacea. Throw someslices into your salad for a creamy addition! We use avocado oil in many of our products. Click here to learn more.

Kiwi

A great source of Vitamin C, which helps keep skin firm and helps prevent wrinkles. Slice up a juicy kiwi and enjoy it as amid-daysnack.

It’s so easy to get what we need from making simple, plant-derived choices for our skin! By making these foods staples in your diet and skincare regime, you can dramatically improve your skin’s radiant glow.
